About Israeli Dancing Sydney

Israeli Dancing Sydney
We’re a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community — Jewish and non-Jewish alike — united by a shared love of dance, music, and connection.

The best time for new beginners to start is in February, but newcomers are always welcome throughout the year. When beginner classes start, I assume no one has any prior dance experience — we take things step by step, building gradually and having fun along the way. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll find yourself moving with confidence and joy!

I carefully choose dances that make the music come alive — where the rhythm moves your feet, your heart lifts, and the magic simply happens.
Every song we dance to comes directly from the best modern choreographers in Israel. Each dance has its own set of choreographed steps, meaning that Israeli dancers all around the world are moving to the same music and steps we are — a beautiful, global connection through dance.

The style of Israeli dancing we do is quite different from the simple & repetitive ‘Hora dancing’ seen at bar mitzvahs or weddings. Our dances are far richer and dynamic, with a mix of simple and more intricate steps that keep things interesting.

Israeli dancing isn’t just great exercise (though you’ll definitely feel it!) — it’s also a joyful mental challenge, a feast for the senses, and true nourishment for the soul.

No matter your age, background, or ability, everyone can experience the freedom, confidence, and happiness that come from dancing.

Dances with Frances sets more than my weekly rhythm.
I am bereft without it.
It is my connection to Israel, my Zionism, and my community.

Ruth
We all have the same love - to dance, to hear Israeli music, and to feel a connection to Israel through our classes. We are connected through our identity as Jews and as a people who express a great many emotions through song and dance.
